Let’s Talk Self-Care│Blog Schedule

Since the day I started this blog, I have seen such growth and have met so many great bloggers along the way! I am so grateful for all the support and love I have been getting! I would not have gotten to where I am currently if it was not for my lovely readers, so I want to personally thank you!♥

dsc00427

I wanted to take today to just talk to you all and explain what has been going on in my mind. I have been stressing out a lot lately and most of it comes from my full-time job. The front desk girl at my work had her last day about 2 weeks ago, which means that I have been covering all of her work. Doing my job duties and covering someone else’s job has been very exhausting. There are days where I come home and my brain just feels dead where I do not want to do anything. The good news is that we did hire someone for the front desk and she will be starting Wednesday. THANK GOD!

dsc00412

Now, this is not why I wanted to talk to you… I realized, in these past two weeks of doing two jobs, that I need a little self-care and should not overwork myself because it just causes my brain to shut down and causes me to become energy deprived. After this eye opening realization, I asked on twitter if I should try to stick to posting two times a week or if I should not over-stress myself and make the decision to post once a week on my blog. 14% of people said I should stick to twice a week posts, while 86% said that I should not worry myself and just go down to one post a week.

dsc00420dsc00419

This really made me realized that I really have people who care about me and truly love reading my blog no matter how many times I post a week (obliviously I would never post less than once a week, but you know what I mean). After the results I got from the twitter poll I have decided to switch my blogging schedule to once a week on Wednesdays. I just need to make sure that I am taking care of myself, so I hope that you respect my decision and continue to enjoy my blog as I enjoy reading and responding to all your comments!

dsc00422

Again, I really appreciate all the support and hope you understand my decision. I want to make sure that I make the best content for my readers while making sure that I do not overwork myself since I do work a full time job currently as an accountant, write for my blog, and produce YouTube videos as well. I hope to be able to do my blog and YouTube channel full time in the future so all the support is very much appreciated♥

dsc00424

I also want to let you all know that you should never overwork yourself and make sure that you take care of yourself. I thought that if I produced so much content that people would come flooding in but that is honestly not the case with blogging. You just need to believe in your passion, be yourself, connect with your readers and other bloggers, and just make sure that you are being honest and genuine♥

What do you think of this change? Have you been over working yourself? Do you need to work on your self-care? Talk to me in the comments below! I love to hear from you guys!

Thanks for Listening♥

Blogger Recognition Award Nomination

I am so so so excited to announce that I have been nominated for the Blogger Recognition Award by the lovely Samantha Marie. It seriously feels like a dream because I cannot believe I am only about a month into my blog and I am already nominated for a blogger award♥ I am just so thankful for the lovely people and bloggers that I have come to know throughout this journey so far!

Rules:

  • Thank the blogger who nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
  • Write a post to show your award.
  • Give a brief story of how your blog started.
  • Give two pieces of advice to new bloggers.
  • Select 15 other bloggers you want to give this award to.
  • Comment on each blog and let them know you have nominated
them and provide the link to the post you created.

I started my blog about a month ago and had the plan from the beginning that I was going to pour my passion into it. When I started this blog, I realized how much I love writing and how much I wanted to share my life and life’s adventures with whoever wanted to read. I never knew how many amazing people I would get to meet out of this decision. Starting this blog was the best decision I have ever made and I plan to continue to grow my blog into a life long partner because I have never wanted to put so much passion into something. My plan for my blog is to inspire people and share all my advice with all the lovely people that come across it. My blog is entirely about lifestyle that ranges from beauty and skincare to adventures and health/wellness by giving product reviews and sharing my life experiences.

I am still a fairly new blogger but… from what I have learned and experienced… my advice to new bloggers is to put your whole passion into your writing (whatever it may be) and make sure to make connections. Passion is what lights the fire to your blog and will be the thing that connects you to some wonderful people who truly love what you write about. Just be yourself and you will find people who really want to listen to what you put into your passion. Making connections through your passion is definitely something special, so do not steer away from connecting with your readers. Always respond to any comments and even reach out to your readers so they know that you care about the support they are giving you.

The Best Day of My Life: Our Wedding

Now that you have read my ‘Married Young‘ post (and if you didn’t go check it out here), I thought I would share our special day with you: Our Wedding Day. We got married on the afternoon of October 21, 2016 when the sun was shining and it was still blazing hot outside because… Arizona, that’s why. We originally chose this day because it is our favorite month and is in the middle of our favorite season. I just wish it would have been a little more on the cooler side with the weather, because it was like being in a oven with the wedding dress that I was wearing! Other than the weather, It was the most perfect day because I got to marry my best friend.♥

We got hitched at The Farmhouse @ Schnepf’s Farm in Queen Creek, Arizona, which was a beautiful little farmhouse that was filled with the memories of others, not only from previous weddings, but also from the Schnepf family that was their childhood home growing up. They decided to keep their family home a part of Schnepf’s Farm by using it as the perfect wedding venue (And it seriously was!).

Our wedding was country themed with the boots and all (Yes… I made every single one of the bridesmaids and groomsmen wear cowboy/cowgirl boots). Now, all of our decorations were not provided by our venue, which was fine with us because we made all of our decorations ourselves including the flower arrangements and bouquets… EVERYTHING! Our flower choices were sunflowers, roses, and babies breath that went well with all the burlap that was on almost everything. Our favorite part of our decorations were our seating arrangement idea. We chose to do seating arrangements… but just to the point of having people assigned to a table not a seat… and we put our own spin on the table numbers. Each table was not given a number but a caliber. We picked 15 different gun calibers and assigned a table to it using a block of wood that we stained, the name of the caliber written on it, and even an actual caliber round glued to the wood block. Then on the board that had the list of who-sits-where, we wrote “Find Your Caliber”. Cute right?! We thought so! Overall, all of our decorations turned out perfect and was so worth the effort of making rather than buying (and it saved us money!)

Daniells and John s Country Farm Wedding-reception-0033.jpg

All our delicious food was catered by my aunt’s catering business, Heidi’s Events and Catering. We chose a BBQ style meal and appetizers to go with our country theme. From BBQ chicken and country style potatoes to shredded pork and the Arnold Palmer, the food was perfect for our event. We got nothing but complements about the food and even the catering staff!

Daniells and John s Country Farm Wedding-reception-0122.jpg

Our DJ, Robert Walk, was the most engaging DJ who made the wedding come to life and made sure that our guests were enjoying our special day. We liked to think of him as a DJ and a wedding planner because he did the part of the DJ but he went above and beyond by organizing the timing of everything and even putting together an itinerary to give to all our wedding vendors so that they knew when everything was going to happen. He even helped me organize a surprise for John of me singing “Dibs” by Keslea Ballerini to him on our wedding night. Of course, he was a little pricier than we wanted to originally spend on a DJ but it was well worth the splurge because he blew our expectations out the window from the moment we met.

Now, our photographer, Carla Beedy (owner of Carmichael Studios), was the service we raved about most! She captured every special moment that you would want to have memories of.  We met her at a bridal expo and ended up booking an engagement photo session with her. When we received our engagement photos back from her, we knew that she was the photographer that we wanted for our wedding day. On top of creating beautiful pictures of our wedding, she was the sweetest and most personable person! I am a person who feels awkward when trying to pose, but Carla made it feel so natural. Our wedding pictures are wonderful memories that so special to us but she made them much more special. Feel free to check her website out here to see more of her amazing work!♥

Although our wedding turned out perfect… no matter how much I say it…there was still one thing I wish I could have changed but couldn’t. I lost my father in March of 2007 so I was not able to have him walk me down the isle or have that special daddy daughter dance… there is still a uplifting part about why I am telling you this though. Although I could not share those moments with my father, I was able to create an even more special memory of having my mother walk me down the isle to give me away and sharing a mother-daughter dance with her. And the most heart-warming part of this day is that I still had my father there with me. Tied to my bouquet with a piece of twine was my father’s wedding band, from his marriage with my mom, so even though he could not be there in person, he was still able to walk me down the isle in spirit and in my heart. We also displayed a memory table to recognize my father, as well as John’s grandparents that passed, with a memory candle and framed picture that held close to my heart. There we so many special memories from our wedding day but knowing that my dad was there in spirit was one of my favorites.

If you are still reading after that big sop story (sorry…), here are a few of our wedding photos taken by Carla (as well as the ones from above):

Overall, we had such a wonderful time and have so many great memories to look back on. There are so many days that I wish I could go back and relive the best day of my life♥

What was your wedding like? Did it turn out the way you wanted it to? If you aren’t married yet, do you have your dream wedding planned out (Pinterest users… I’m looking at you)? Let me know in the comments down below! I would love to hear about your special day!

My Current Skincare Routine + The Body Shop Tea Tree Review

Skincare is something that is very important to me and always has been, so I thought I would share my current skincare routine with you.

Background: I have combination/oily skin so I have dry areas but I am also very oil, especially on my T-Zone. I have struggled with acne since I was 15 in my Freshman year of high school. My worst acne came in my Junior year as it was not cystic but it was pretty close and I would get scars from my acne. Now I am 21 and I still currently struggle with acne but it is nowhere near what it was like in high school. I get a couple pimples here and there (which are still really annoying – am I right?) but I have found ways of getting rid of them faster.

20170107_145159.jpg

I religiously used the Murad Acne Skincare line for about the past 2 years but I have heard so many great reviews about The Body Shop Tea Tree line from so many people, including my best friend who uses some products from the line, so I decided I would see what all the rave is about. I bought 3 products from the Tea Tree line: The Tea Tree Skin Clearing Foaming Cleanser, Tea Tree Skin Clearing Mattifying Facial Toner, and just the plain Tea Tree Oil. I use these Body Shop products along with the Olay Complete All Day Moisturizer with SPF 15 for Sensitive Skin.

20170107_145709.jpg

Now that you know what products I use in my skincare, lets jump into the steps of my routine.

  1. First, I make sure my hair is put up and out of my face.
  2. Use warm water to get my cleansing brush and face wet because the warm water helps open up my pores so that the product is able to penetrate deeper into my skin for a better cleaning.
  3. Apply one pump of the The Tea Tree Skin Clearing Foaming Cleanser to my cleansing brush.
  4. Using the cleansing brush, I scrub my face in a circular motion (I tend to scrub for a decent amount of time to ensure I am getting my face as clean as possible and giving the cleanser time to work into my pores).
  5. Once I am done scrubbing my face, I rinse my cleansing brush off in the warm water as well as rinse my face clean of the cleanser and then pat my face dry with a washcloth.
  6. Apply the Tea Tree Skin Clearing Mattifying Facial Toner with a cotton ball or cotton pad.
  7. Using a Q-Tip, I then apply the Tea Tree Oil to any active pimple or any problem area I have.
  8. Lastly I apply a generous amount of the Olay Complete All Day Moisturizer all over my face.

I have been using the Olay Moisturizer for as long as I can remember but I just started using the Tea Tree products for about 4 weeks now. These products have actually been working great on my skin as it has helped diminish an active pimple within a day and even help stop a pimple from arising to the surface.

If you struggle with acne and have oily skin, I would definitely recommend buying these products and giving them a try. The Body Shop has many other Tea Tree products in their line such as the Tea Tree Skin Clearing Mask, Tea Tree Mattifying Lotion, Tea Tree Night Lotion, Tea Tree Oil Pore Minimizer, and more! You can find all their products on their website here.

Pugs: The Best Companion♥

Who said diamonds are a girl’s best friend? Pugs are the best kind of friend/companion you can add to your family. I’ve had a passion — and, yes, I said passion — for pugs ever since I was a little girl. My parents even bought a pug for us to add to our family.

20150217_101414
When we first got Lily♥

In February of 2015, my Husband and I bought our very own pug puppy and named her Lily. She was the runt of the litter so I melted the second I saw her. Lily is now 2 years old (as of exactly Monday, January 9th, 2016) and she is best pug we could ask for! She is lovable, loves to cuddle, well behaved,  energetic, oh and did I say loves to cuddle (because that is her favorite thing to do) which is why we call her a cuddle pug!♥

Lily is not a normal looking pug, though, as she is skinny and has long thin legs. When we bought her, we were told that she was 6 weeks old (which is still a risky age to take a pup away from their mother) but in reality she turned out to be about 5 weeks old, which may not seem like a big (since it is only a week from what we though she was) but it definitely does. Lily ended up having these seizure like episodes where she would shake her head and end up spitting up her food. We took her to the vet and had to end up giving her this very fine, medicated dog food that the vet prescribed so that she would be able to keep her food down and get her nutrients. We think that since she was taken away from her mother too early, she lacked nutrients needed to help her growth and development which caused her bones to grow abnormally resulting in her to look like the skinny, tall pug that we love ’till this day. We call her our special pug because there is no pug like her♥ We love her unconditionally and wouldn’t trade her for anything!

20170103_183246

We even take Lily almost everywhere we go such as grocery shopping and yes I know what you are thinking…. “Did this woman seriously buy her pug a baby cart cover for her pug?” Why yes I did! I bought a Bobby cart cover that is for babies so that she can sit in the cart comfortably because, if you can’t already tell, she is a spoiled little pug! Don’t get me wrong, I spoil my other dog, Princess, as well but she is a little too hyper to take to the store; therefore, Lily gets to be the one to go shopping with us occasionally because she calm as she just sits in the cart and likes to observe her surroundings. Everyone loves when we bring her to the store too because they always freak out when they see her and say that she is the cutest thing (even the employees)!

Now, of course, all dogs are considered great family additions but pugs are a whole different story because they have so many reasons why they are so enjoyable to have as a companion and life long family member. Here is a list of why pugs are one of the best kind dogs:

20170101_103907

Reasons Why Pugs Are Great Companions:

  1. First of all, they are the cutest looking dogs with their smashed innocent looking face♥
  2. They are very affectionate animals who crave attention.
  3. Pugs are really loyal dogs who love people unconditionally.
  4. They love to cuddle (so you never need to worry about not having a cuddle partner).
  5. They are a passive breed so they are good for families with children as they are not violent creatures (the only thing you have to worry about is them cuddling you to death!).
  6. Pugs have a sense of humor and can be very energetic when you get them playing.
  7. They are small so that you can take them with you places, as long as the place is dog friendly (unless it is Walmart because they really don’t care, they would rather see a cute pug than turn you down!).
  8. Pug kisses are the best♥
  9. They love to nap and are lazy most of the time so you really don’t need to do much with them (except cuddle because that’s their favorite… or did I mentioned that before?).
  10. A group of pugs is called a Grumble. Isn’t that so cute!
  11. They are characterized as “Multum in Parvo” which means much in little because they have such a huge personality for such a small little dog.
  12. They love to speak (heck mine even howls which we praise her for because it is just so darn cute)!
  13. Lastly, my favorite thing about them is that they know when you are feeling down and know how to comfort you to make you feel better♥

So what are you waiting for?!?! Go get yourself a pug! You will not regret it and will have the best life partner you could ever wish for.

Do you like pugs? If so, what is your favorite things about pugs? Do you know anyone that owns a pug? Let me know in the comment down below!

New Years In Flagstaff♥

Instead of ringing in the New Year by going out to party, my husband and I decided to go up North to Flagstaff with our puppies to see the snow. Any chance we get (and by that I mean, any time my husband has both Saturday and Sunday off) we like to get away and plan a trip up to flagstaff to go camping, or in this case go see the snow. So we packed up our bags and headed up North to enjoy the cooler weather for New Years weekend.

We headed out on Saturday December 31st, 2016 early in the morning around 4 am so that we could take full advantage of this holiday weekend. We took our time on our way up and stopped to take in the scenery as we saw it. We are ones to enjoy the great outdoors when
we go on adventure so of course we took pictures of our little road trip to share with you lovely people as well as vlogged our whole trip♥

We stopped at all the viewpoints, went walking through downtown Flagstaff, and enjoyed our time up in the cooler weather. With all of the fun that we had during this trip there was bound to have something unfortunate happen (just our luck, of course) as our truck slid into a snow bank…. but thankfully someone helped pull us out so that we could continue enjoying the beautiful city of Flagstaff! To our excitement though, we actually woke up to about 4 inches of snow on the morning of New Year so we decided to take advantage of the snowfall and go sledding.

Here are some memories of our trip up to Flagstaff♥

We definitely enjoyed getting away from all the hustle and bustle of the city life in Phoenix.

Don’t forget to subscribe so you know when I have new videos on my YouTube Channel! I would really appreciate it as well♥ Weekly vlogs go up every Tuesday!

What did you do for New Years weekend? Did you go out of town? What was your most favorite memory during these holidays? Let me know in the comments down below!

Ways to Relax After the Holidays

Now that the holidays are over, you are probably in need of some major relaxing and de-stressing. There are many ways to relax from all the holiday rage but I have found 5 very useful hacks to share with you all 🙂
1. Aroma Home Pug Microwavable Hot Hug

The first thing I suggest is to get an Aroma Home Pug Microwavable Hot Hug. They are infused with lavender oils which is known to help relax the mind and body. The pug plush is conveniently sold on Amazon. How it works is you take the microwavable insert out of the Velcro pouch on its belly and microwave it for 30 seconds (make sure the microwave is clean and free of grease) and then you take it out and test the warmth to make sure it is not too hot. If you still want it warmer, you warm it up in 10 second intervals until the desired warmth is reached. Then it is ready to be cuddled! I got one for Christmas and I am just obsessed with it, partly because it is a pug and who doesn’t like pugs, but also because it keeps me warm and helps calm me down with the lavender scent after a long day of work. It even helps with that time of the month, Ladies, if you get really bad cramps!

Here is the link to get the Aroma Home Pug Microwavable Hot Hug plush: Aroma Home Pug Microwavable Hot Hug *

2.  Art Naturals Essential Oil Diffused

An Art Naturals oil diffuser is similar idea to the aromatherapy plush but is a machine that emits an oil infused mist into the air and can be used with a variety of different oil scents. Art Naturals sells eight different types of oils that include: Frankincense, Lavender, Eucalyptus, Lemon Grass, Peppermint, Sweet Orange, Tea Tree, and Rosemary. I also got one of these, plus the set of eight oils,  for Christmas and used it that night. I used the lavender oil first because that is my go-to scent with aromatherapy and it helped me relax before bed (especially after all the Christmas chaos). Each scent is supposed to help with different things such as lavender with relaxation, peppermint with headaches, Eucalyptus for cold or flu, and etc (the oils come with a pamphlet that tells you about each oil).

You can get the Art Naturals Essential Oil Diffuser here: Art Naturals Essential Oil Diffuser *

And the eight pack of oils here: Art Naturals Top 8 Essential Oils *

3. Go Out To Eat or Have Food Delivered

If you were the one hosting the Christmas party and making all the delicious food for it, then the last thing you are going to want to do is cook more food after then. Instead, go out to eat at a restaurant or even have some food delivered right to your front door; it could be a cute date with the hubby or even a treat for yourself.

You are bound to have at least one gift card to a restaurant given to you as a gift for Christmas so might as well take advantage of it (you don’t even need to get dressed up). My husband and I decided to go out to dinner at Chili’s (since we got so many gift cards for them) and it really was relaxing to just have someone make food for you.

UberEATS is one way you could have food delivered to your doorsteps and it really easy! Just sign up and browse the restaurants around you available for delivery. There is such a huge variety of restaurants that deliver through this delivery service and it is relatively cheap! You can spend the day after Christmas in your Pajamas, lounging on the couch,  watching Netflix, while stuffing your face with your favorite food. That sounds like a great day to me!

4. Get Outside!

20161231_131042

After the holidays, people might be on a stricter budget after splurging on all those gifts for friends and family so a free way to get some relaxation is just simply go outside and get some fresh air. Especially if you ate too much during Christmas, this is a good way to get off the couch and get some light exercise that can help de-stress your mind. I like to go on walks with my puppies to get some fresh air and they sure love it too! It is kind of a win, win situation too because it helps me de-stress but it also helps wear out my puppies, because they can get hyper at times 🙂

5. Go Explore

Exploring, or going on a short road trip, can be a great way to relax after the holidays. Whether it is just driving around those dirt roads or planning a small trip away from your town, this helps escape the hustle and bustle of the Holidays. My husband and I went on a trip for New Years weekend to get away and take a small road trip up to flagstaff with the pups to see the snow, which is one of our favorite places to go to when we feel like we need a break from all the stress that comes with life. Tip: Bring a camera along to capture all the scenery and memories. (P.S. look out for a post on our little flagstaff trip)

If you get stressed from all the Holiday madness, these tips can help you relax and renew your body for the New Year!

Comment a way that helps you relax from all the stress of the Holidays or even just everyday life. I would love to hear what tips you guys have for relaxing 🙂

Don’t forget to hit that “follow” button so you know when I have a new post!

Hope you all had a fantastic Holiday season! Thanks for listening ❤

Renewal for the New Year

The New Year is upon us and that means we are all trying to come up with our resolutions for 2017! I don’t really normally partake in this resolution making but I have decided to give it a go this year.

In 2017, there is just one thing that I want to renew and that is my outlook on things. My outlook on myself, outlook on making new friendships, and outlook on life in general. My outlook on these things can help change the way I perceive life in a whole.

img_20150408_224502

I want to learn to love myself more and not look at all the insecurities I see in myself, but see all the beauty that comes from within me as I renew my outlook. I need to realize that my acne does not define me, my personality and the decision I make do. This year I want to see myself as a beautiful person who loves bringing joy to people and then I will be able to renew the outlook on myself.

I want to disperse from my little bubble that I have put myself in for the past couple years and begin to meet new people that will better my well-being. Becoming more social and opening up to new adventures can help me so that I can open my heart to people and let them in. Shutting people out is not an option anymore as I just need to get out there and simply make new friends to share my life’s journey with, which in return will renew my outlook on making new relationships.

19844-Charles-R-Swindoll-Quote-Life-is-10-what-happens-to-you-and-90-how.jpg

Life is a great gift that we are all given and we all need to appreciate it more. Being grateful for the things we have and not for what we don’t. I need to take advantage of this life i am given and be thankful more for what I have because, in the end, it is just about the memories throughout your life that are shared with people around you. For, in the words of Charles R. Swindoll, “Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it” so we need to renew our outlook on life.

Let me know in the comments what your New Years resolution for 2017 is 🙂

Thanks for Listening XOXO

Looking Back: Supporting People with Cancer

There are so many people going through the struggle and fight of cancer, but there is a way we can all help them: support.

Looking back at the past years, I remember the amazing act my sister did in December of 2012 to help support people with cancer. She made the brave decision to cut her hair off and donate it to locks of love. She also decided to take it a step further by shaving her head completely bald to help support the people going through the depressing aftermath of cancer and to show how judgmental society is. I supported her throughout this whole decision because I loved how she was wanting to make a change.

In partaking in the action to shave her head, she was so determined to make an impression on people to help support the people struggling with cancer. Cancer is a horrible thing, but we can help by just making a change and showing people that they are beautiful no matter how they look. It’s what is in the inside that counts and not on the outside. Now I’m not saying you have to shave your head to support people with cancer, but by making a change and showing people who they really are inside, we can all support this cause and bring out the fighter in people that are battling cancer.
